School is out and summer has begun! Let nature be our guide as we explore the great outdoors and prepare culinary creations appropriate to the season. Join us as we engage all of our senses to learn about the beneficial creatures that call your backyard home. We will explore why insects are vital to food production and learn about the benefits of bees, worms, bats and spiders. We will marvel at their industriousness and learn to welcome them with open arms!
Come into the kitchen and use a variety of culinary tools to prepare a snack themed to the day's explorations. We may make individual lady-bug pizza pies, made from scratch spider pretzels and insect themed cupcakes. Tap into your creativity to craft, play games and read stories that will enhance your learning about these beneficial and often overlooked backyard neighbors.

Back by popular demand, Cupcake Wars is returning with all new themes and recipes! Children are divided into teams and will work together to follow the recipe of the day. After popping their batch of cupcakes into the oven and cleaning their workstation, bakers will head to the creative lab to design a presentation that corresponds to the theme of the day. Children will create displays, dioramas and mini posters that showcases their cupcake exhibit to the judges.
Once the cupcakes have cooled, the fun really begins! Children will have a blast decorating their cupcakes using a new technique each day. Pastry bags and icing tips, frostings and fondant application, your baker will learn how to prepare everything from scratch. The best part is that your budding pastry chef will bring home their creations!
Themes you may see this summer: Summer Camp-Out, The Secret Life of Pets, Life's a Beach. If there is a theme you would like to see, please let us know!

July 8 - 12
Join us as we prepare and sample breads from around the world. A staple of almost every cuisine, your baker will learn about breads from Arepa (a cornmeal patty popular in Venezuela and Colombia) to Zopf (a brioche-like bread popular in Switzerland and Germany). Each day we will make a different bread and pair it with an accompanying condiment or side dish that was prepared by your budding chef.
While our bread bakes in the oven we will explore the country of origin and learn about the culture, customs and environment of our host country. Through books, crafts, experiments and adventures, your baker will travel around the world, breaking bread at our global table.
